How to find the right care professionals for your shifts

Having to fill a last minute shift with an agency worker can be stressful, chaotic and worrisome for many care home managers and roster coordinators.

Keeping your staffing levels safe, ensuring continuity of care and peace of mind are rarely associated with temporary staff.

But over at Florence that’s exactly why we exist - our founders Dr Charles Armitage & Dan Blake saw a gap in the market.

We believe filling vacant shifts can be a great way for professionals to work flexibly while helping you get cover for sickness, holidays and the natural churn of your regular staff.

Taking the chaos out of communication

Florence isn’t like a recruitment agency - it’s far better.

Our app helps you fill your shifts with your own staff before considering using temp staff.

We help you surface vacancies and message your own pool of staff first, potentially reducing the need for agencies at all.

In one app you can find the vacancy, invite your team, and see them accept the shift in just a few taps. Powered by SMS your staff accept shifts from their phones - no chasing needed.

100% compliant staff, 100% of the time

With the many staffing agencies across the UK also comes a variety of levels of compliance - with lots of agencies accepting outdated certificates or doing their own manual checks which can lead to human error.

Our technology takes away human error and makes sure all of the below compliance is fully verified by regulatory bodies, with automatic checks and expiry warnings.

We only send you compliant staff who have:

- A verified NMC/SSSC PIN

- References: we’ll collect two professional references who can confirm a professional’s care experience

- Right to work check, including either passport or share PIN

- An enhanced DBS or PVG certificate

- Work experience: At least six months of UK work experience as a carer or support worker, or one year of experience as a nurse (UK or international)

- Proof of address: for example, a bank statement or utility bill

- Up-to-date training certificates- powered by our CPD accredited, CSTF aligned Florence Academy

Keeping continuity of care

Care professionals are the backbone of service users' experience with your home, and we know changes to staff and schedules can have a significant impact on the delivery and quality of care.

At Florence we believe that even when booking temp staff, the power is in your hands.

If you have a great experience with a member of the Florence team (which we’re sure you will!) - you can favourite them and invite them back over and over again!

They’ll get priority access to your shifts, meaning you and your service users can have peace of mind.

Keeping costs realistic

We’re firmly on the side of our customers and professionals that work for us. Meaning - our rates are always transparent and up front.

We’ll suggest rates to you that are both competitive and fair, and allow our care professionals to see the rate before they book the shift.

No hidden fees. No funny games and no shady practices. Just honesty. Because we care.
